Week 9 at Tsula Adohi – Autumn Semester 2022
This week was very full of amazing activities, surprises, and birthday celebrations! The weather continues to be absolutely beautiful. We started off the week with the addition of a playhouse/clubhouse for the school.
The students spent most of Monday morning outside having a picnic at Bear Creek, and in the clubhouse, and have dubbed the clubhouse ” The Beehive”.
Wednesday we celebrated a student’s birthday by going to The Mellow Mushroom in Franklin, and then to Kilwin’s for ice cream afterward.
Thursday, we had a falconry event where the wonderful David Hudson of Turnbull Creek Falconry brought 3 magnificent birds to the school- 2 hawks and a barn owl- and taught the students about falconry and allowed each of them to hold the birds, and to have the hawks fly to their arm. This was an event that we opened up to the homeschool community at large, so we had several other children, with their parents. The students worked really hard doing research prior to the event, and made two beautiful educational boards that are chock-full of drawings and researched information. They did a great job, and David was duly impressed!
The students rounded out the day by decorating for Halloween- making a skeleton out of cardboard and stringing it together with twine. We are all off for a week of fall break, but we will be back the week of the 17th. Happy October, everyone!
